On June 7th, 2014, Mom had a party to Launch the Vadnais Family history book. Grandpa (Laurier J Vadnais) wanted to have his family history complied into a book format, he worked on this along with Grandma (Laura Low Vadnais) in the last years of his life. It would have been nice to have completed this project before they passed away, but somethings are not so easy. This was a huge undertaking. Kevin Vadnais was the technical support for the project and Mom, (Anna Joy Vadnais Bevans) was the driving force to get all the info together.
We had dinner at the camp kitchen in Cardston. All the Vadnais siblings were there except for Gordon.
While we were waiting to eat Jean Eyre pulled out the hula hoop for some fun.
Tiffany showed us how easy it was!
Susie Q showed us how easy it was!
Kassie Lee also showed us how easy it was to "Hula Hoop!"
Aunt Mildred, (Grandma's sister) was there to make sure we did it all right! She is looking good for her early 90's!
To quote Aunt Mildred:
"I'm too old to die young!"
Mom explaining the details on the cover of the book as she was the one to design it!
Something like, Grandpa and Great Grandpa enjoying the kids, the cattle and the mountains!
Commenting on the last page of the book. Grandpa's favorite picture that he took of his horse Penny, the dog and of course Old Chief! "Where is the rider?"
All of the books in groups of 10 for each of the 6 siblings!
Keith Vadnais, Joy Bevans, Ken Vadnais, Lavern Vadnais, Mildred Jensen, Bruce Vadnais, Susan Parkins, Georgette Hricise and Phyllis Stapleton.
The family with their spouses.
From Left to Right:
Keith & Alberta Vadnais, Ken & Pat Vadnais, Lavern & Kathy Vadnais, Aunt Mildred (seated) Bruce & Judy Vadnais, Susan Parkins, Georgette & Bill Hricise, Phyllis & Ed Stapleton ,
Joy & Denver Bevans.
I'm so proud of Mom for working so hard to get this book published. It is a treasure to have and I'm sure we don't even have a clue as to its value in the years to come. I'm grateful for the heritage my Grandpa and Grandma Vadnais gave us, I love them and miss them. I'm so glad that I had a Grandma's house to go to for cookies and showers! It's always fun at Grandma's house!
Dixie: "See ya later Grandpa!"
Grandpa: "Hope so!"
